Shri K. Mahapatra has been appointed the 8th Director of Directorate of Construction, Services & Estate management (DCSEM) w.e.f. 01.11.2022.

  Shri Mahapatra was born in Kolkata in 1966. He has completed B. Tech in Civil Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur in 1987 & was Gold Medalist in all branch of Engineering & Technology. He has completed his post-graduation i.e. M. Tech (Civil) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1990.

Shri Mahapatra joined erstwhile Construction & Services Group (Now DCSEM) in December, 1989 as SO/SC. Since joining, he was associated with site supervision of various civil construction projects at different places like Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) Lab of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) at Pune, Cell Sciences Laboratories of Department of Bio-technology at Pune, Earthquake Rehabilitation construction jobs at Latur, Housing & other infrastructure for Atomic Minerals Directorate (AMD) at Shillong, various construction projects at Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata, Construction of 312 & 356 flats of various types at Anushaktinagar etc. are few of the projects out of long list handled by Shri Mahapatra.

  Shri Mahapatra was handling the DCSEM establishment set-up at Kolkata for overseeing various construction jobs for VECC, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) and National Institute of Science, Education & Research (NISER) at Bhubaneshwar etc. from the year 2002 to 2017. Amongst them was the prestige project of DAE Medical Cyclotron and Radiation Medicine Research Centre (RMRC), Kolkata.

  Shri Mahapatra is a recipient of DAE Group Achievement Awards in

• 2009 – Construction of various facilities with Innovative construction features to support R&D programme of the development in (a) Construction of Academic Block for NISER at IOP, Bhubaneshwar. (b) Construction of Silver Jubilee Guest House for VECC, Kolkata
• 2018 - Construction of First Research & Teaching Block (FReT) for TIFR, Hyderabad.
• 2019 - Indigenous installation & commissioning of Medical cyclotron at VECC, Kolkata.
• 2021 - Setting up of Waste Management Facilities & achieving Atma Nirbharta and Clean & Green, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai.
• Shri Mahapatra was co-author for Journal of Asian concrete federation “Estimation of present day strength of concrete for a 40 year building from non-destructive tests” in December, 2021.

Since his joining as Director, DCSEM various new milestones has been achieved viz. inauguration of Post Graduate Hostel for HBNI, Damodar building 96 flats of Type III-C, Footbal Turf at PTAA Complex, Homi Bhabha Cancer & Research Hospital in Vizag, Bhabha Park Phase-II and many more to come.
