ExploreMADHUBAN”-An Urban forest based on MIYAWAKI concept is developed in Mandala region of Anushaktingaar .The foundation stone for which was laid by Hon”ble Chairman AEC , on December 5, 2020 in the presence of Director BARC & Director DCSEM. To limit climate change catastrophe, dense urban forests are the answer.Urban forest is a Collection of trees that grow within a city and includes woody plant vegetation growing in and around human settlements.Miyawaki: It is a unique method to create an urban forest pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. Native species are closely planted so that the greens receive sunlight only from the top and grow upwards than sideways.Trees grow many times faster, better noise and dust reduction, additional green surface area, better Carbon-dioxide absorption and much more bio diverse as compared to a mono culture plantation. So we get a 100 year old forest in just 10 years.About“MADHUBAN” Planted local & Medical species. 3.5 Plants per sq.m., No. of trees – 2400, No. of Species – 38, Max Height of Tree – 25 Feet, Area of Plantation – 1000 Sq.m., Total Area– 1750 sq.m. BARC developed Hydrogel used to save water. No Chemical fertilizer used. Biomass comprising of sweet earth, coco peat, rice husk, compost and cow urine, jaggery, cowdung, rice straw micro-organism etc. are used for plantations. Provision for Forest Walk &space for recreation.

Mohanty, Director, BARC & Sh. B. K. Jain, Director, DCS&EM. Senior Officials of various DAE units, representatives of several active associations were present at the inaugural ceremony. Anushaktinagar house more than 8300 flats and is a very strong community of about 40,000 populations. There are large no of cultural groups existing in the colony. Cultural groups are part and parcel of the Indian society. The society draws satisfaction and psychologically strength from various believes in various groups including cultural and other societal needs. These groups are provided some spaces in existing old temporary structures in Takshashila square which were there before construction of town ship. Over period of time, this temporary sheds have been damaged beyond economical repair. In view of above, DCS&EM initiated the proposal for construction of new cultural centre. “Indradhanush” The DAE Cultural Centre was Conceptualised, Planned, Designed and Constructed in-house by DCS&EM. The premise is designed to accommodate already functioning cultural groups and also the requirement of new groups, for their regular activity.The Ground +1 structure comprises of 19 halls of 29m2 carpet area and 2 big halls with 60m2 carpet area. Along with all the common facilities e.g. toilets, staircase & parking the premises also have a big developed area of about 650m2, for gatherings. The premises has been beautifully landscaped with flowering plants & lush green garden.

He is considered as the Father of the Indian Space Programme.Department of Atomic Energy had organized celebrations to commemorate the birth centenary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The “Unveiling of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai’s bust” in front of Iconic Structure “Vikram Sarabhai Bhavan” was done on 22nd February 2020.DCSEM took its best step forward in making the concept, design and execution of the same. It was truly an architectural challenge to match the features with the existing Building as also to mark the structure as a tribute to the Great Scientist. The bust was made out of monolithic Granite Stone and was carved by a renowned Sculptor from Bengaluru.The Bust was Unveiled by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Ex-chairman AEC & Shri K. N. Vyas, Chairman AEC, in presence of Dr. R. Chidambaram, Ex-chairman AEC, Shri A. K. Mohanty, Director BARC and Shri B. K. Jain, Director DCSEM. Senior officers of DCSEM and other DAE units have also graced the occasion.In continuation with the same ceremony there was a Digital Exhibition of DAE activities in open air amphitheatre at the back side of Bust area. The innovative approach is to provide an outreach facility for varied activities of different units of DAE having their offices in V.S. Bhavan. Also, to provide an open platform for general discussions/meetings and official programmes under the soothing nature.The rear wall of bust structure is provided with a central eye-catching feature mural by using an exterior grade glass fibre reinforced glass polymer-based material portraying the activities of DAE along with metaphors of eminent scientists Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha & Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.Both the External and internal beautification of Vikram Sarabhai Bhavan has not only enhanced the aesthetic value but also has provided an excellent working ambience to different units of DAE having their offices in V.S. Bhavan.
