ExploreIn continuation of its endeavour to make Anushaktinagar cleaner and greener, DCSEM, a unit of DAE, is planning to plant over 5000 trees and shrubs in Anushaktinagar in 2021-22, which includes planting of around 150 trees along the main road from Mandala Gate to North Gate. This was inaugurated on World Environment Day on June 5, 2021 by Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Director, BARC and Shri B K Jain, Director, DCSEM in the presence of limited audience. Director, BARC also visited “Madhuban” the newly created Urban Forest in Anushaktinagar where the growth of trees is observed to be more than 8 feet in just 6 months period which is a great success. The urban forest is developed on the “Miyawaki” concept, wherein growth of plants is faster particularly in vertical direction.

ExploreSubsequent to approval of DAE, for Setting Up of Communication Towers at Anushaktinagar through M/s Indus Towers, Mumbai (Infrastructure Provider), foundation stone was laid on 08/03/2021 on the occasion of International Women Day. In order to have coverage of entire Anushaktinagar with good mobile connectivity, it has been decided to erect around 10 nos. of Ground Based Mobile Towers. The mobile towers will be of monopole type GBT. Each tower will have 4G mobile services of min. 03 service provider and MTNL. Installation of GBTs will considerably improve mobile signals of there service providers in Anushaktinagar. Mobile towers is expected to be operational and on air within 2 months
ExploreWorks Done During Pandemic: Projects:Construction activities progressed at the following project sites during pandemic: Hospital for TMC Vizag, SMF & RMP works, GCNEP Phase II, RMRC, 312 flats of Type V-E, 356 flats, HBNI Hostels, Site office for LIGO. The cumulative Bill payments for Civil & MEP works executed on Above Capital works between March and October 2020 is to the tune of Rs. 80.00 Crores. The acid test faced during pandemic was the depleted resources, restriction of attendance & limited operation of public transport. Asset management / Maintenance:Ensuring uninterrupted running of services like processing 10 tonnes per day solid waste, distribution of Water supply of 10 million liters per day & 30 lakh units /month Electric power supply, upkeep of 50 km road network, upkeep of 110 Lifts, firefighting systems, sewerage system, recycled water, security surveillance system and communication networks. Major breakdowns attended during pandemic include arresting leakage in 300 mm dia. water pipe line, restoration of security surveillance systems and glitches in pump houses and the main screen of water SCADA. Timely completion of pre-monsoon & preventive maintenance works. Cumulative Billing against maintenance works executed during pandemic is Rs 60.00 Crores which accounts for almost 35 % of the usual annual budget allocation. Accounts and Administration:The Directorate also contributed with timely processing of work orders and payments. A total of 74 numbers of new work orders for construction & maintenance activities were released during the pandemic. Designers too supported by concomitantly issuing 500 working drawings. Anti Covid Measures:To ensure COVID related compliance and safeguards UV Blaster, UV Tunnels, proper/regular sanitization and thermal monitoring etc. were installed / ensured at various location / entry / exit points. The COVID related cases among deployed labours, employees are kept under check / control.

ExploreIn continuation of its efforts to make Anushaktinagar cleaner and greener, DCSEM, a unit of DAE, recently constructed and developed large parks comprising of open Gymnasium, Children play equipments, walking tracks and landscape in these parks. These are named as “RIM GYM” parks and are located in 3 different places namely Mandala, Kamet and Brindavan in Anushaktinagar. The Outdoor Gymnasium equipments are meant for age group of 13 years and above whereas the play equipments installed are for children of age group below 12 years. One of the parks is depicting the theme of typical Socio-Cultural village life of rural India. Jain, Director, DCSEM. Soon after inauguration, the facility was opened for beneficial use of residents. ExploreIn furtherance to DCSEM’s efforts towards “Clean & Green” Anushaktinagar, “Madhuban” the Urban forest in Anushaktinagar was inaugurated on 8th March i.e. on Women’s Day 2021 in absentia by Mrs. Beena Kamlesh Vyas wife of Shri. K. N. Vyas, Secretary DAE & Chairman AEC. On behalf of Smt. Beena K. Vyas, Smt. Shailaja Prakasam, CAO along with Women’s Cell of DCSEM unveiled the inauguration plaque. Congratulatory video recorded messages by Mrs. Swarnamayee Mohanty wife of Director, BARC & Mrs. Bina Jain wife of Director, DCSEM were also played out on the occasion.It is to mention that on December 5, 2020 Chairman AEC had laid the foundation stone for ‘Madhuban’.The distinctive features in ‘Madhuban’ comprise 2400 numbers of 38 varieties of medicinal plants spread over an area of 1000 square meter. The park premises also have small Children’s play park and nodal pathways for going around the forest. A central interactive space with sitting arrangement is also provided near entrance. Hydrogel developed by NABTD, BARC has also been used for water conservation. The plantation technique is based on “Miyawaki“ method which enhances the plant growth vertically by 10 times.

ExploreMADHUBAN”-An Urban forest based on MIYAWAKI concept is developed in Mandala region of Anushaktingaar .The foundation stone for which was laid by Hon”ble Chairman AEC , on December 5, 2020 in the presence of Director BARC & Director DCSEM. To limit climate change catastrophe, dense urban forests are the answer.Urban forest is a Collection of trees that grow within a city and includes woody plant vegetation growing in and around human settlements.Miyawaki: It is a unique method to create an urban forest pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. Native species are closely planted so that the greens receive sunlight only from the top and grow upwards than sideways.Trees grow many times faster, better noise and dust reduction, additional green surface area, better Carbon-dioxide absorption and much more bio diverse as compared to a mono culture plantation. So we get a 100 year old forest in just 10 years.About“MADHUBAN” Planted local & Medical species. 3.5 Plants per sq.m., No. of trees – 2400, No. of Species – 38, Max Height of Tree – 25 Feet, Area of Plantation – 1000 Sq.m., Total Area– 1750 sq.m. BARC developed Hydrogel used to save water. No Chemical fertilizer used. Biomass comprising of sweet earth, coco peat, rice husk, compost and cow urine, jaggery, cowdung, rice straw micro-organism etc. are used for plantations. Provision for Forest Walk &space for recreation.

Anushaktinagar house more than 8300 flats and is a very strong community of about 40,000 populations. There are large no of cultural groups existing in the colony. Cultural groups are part and parcel of the Indian society. The society draws satisfaction and psychologically strength from various believes in various groups including cultural and other societal needs. These groups are provided some spaces in existing old temporary structures in Takshashila square which were there before construction of town ship. Over period of time, this temporary sheds have been damaged beyond economical repair. In view of above, DCS&EM initiated the proposal for construction of new cultural centre. “Indradhanush” The DAE Cultural Centre was Conceptualised, Planned, Designed and Constructed in-house by DCS&EM. The premise is designed to accommodate already functioning cultural groups and also the requirement of new groups, for their regular activity.The Ground +1 structure comprises of 19 halls of 29m2 carpet area and 2 big halls with 60m2 carpet area. Along with all the common facilities e.g. toilets, staircase & parking the premises also have a big developed area of about 650m2, for gatherings. The premises has been beautifully landscaped with flowering plants & lush green garden.

He is considered as the Father of the Indian Space Programme.Department of Atomic Energy had organized celebrations to commemorate the birth centenary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The “Unveiling of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai’s bust” in front of Iconic Structure “Vikram Sarabhai Bhavan” was done on 22nd February 2020.DCSEM took its best step forward in making the concept, design and execution of the same. It was truly an architectural challenge to match the features with the existing Building as also to mark the structure as a tribute to the Great Scientist. The bust was made out of monolithic Granite Stone and was carved by a renowned Sculptor from Bengaluru.The Bust was Unveiled by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Ex-chairman AEC & Shri K. N. Vyas, Chairman AEC, in presence of Dr. R. Chidambaram, Ex-chairman AEC, Shri A. K. Mohanty, Director BARC and Shri B. K. Jain, Director DCSEM. Senior officers of DCSEM and other DAE units have also graced the occasion.In continuation with the same ceremony there was a Digital Exhibition of DAE activities in open air amphitheatre at the back side of Bust area. The innovative approach is to provide an outreach facility for varied activities of different units of DAE having their offices in V.S. Bhavan. Also, to provide an open platform for general discussions/meetings and official programmes under the soothing nature.The rear wall of bust structure is provided with a central eye-catching feature mural by using an exterior grade glass fibre reinforced glass polymer-based material portraying the activities of DAE along with metaphors of eminent scientists Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha & Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.Both the External and internal beautification of Vikram Sarabhai Bhavan has not only enhanced the aesthetic value but also has provided an excellent working ambience to different units of DAE having their offices in V.S. Bhavan.
